Overview
BNP Factoring is an application for companies that enables the use of the factoring services offered by BNP Bank. Factoring is a type of financing that allows business owners to receive immediate funds for their issued invoices or receive funds from the bank to pay their invoices on time.
My contribution
My role involved gathering all the necessary information for the design, validating it with stakeholders, and preparing user testing for the designed parts. After testing, I iterated on the designs or handed them off to development for implementation.
The team
The team included three Product Designers, customer support for user insights, user researchers, and BNP Paribas experts for factoring domain knowledge. After the design phase, we collaborated with developers to implement the solution.
Process
In-depth interviews with factoring specialists
We started by learning how factoring works, testing different ideas, and talking to factoring specialists from banks that work with Comarch. Together with the Research team, we organized focus groups with experts from different banks. We also had a specialist join some of our internal meetings while we worked on the new solution.
Designing white-labeled solution
We were designing a white-labeled SaaS product in collaboration with banks that would be the first users. This helped us better understand the domain and allowed the banks to be part of creating the new solution. Our main partner was BNP Bank, which had been using the older factoring system from Comarch.
Usability tests
Every few sprints, once we had some processes designed, we organized usability tests with factoring experts using interactive Axure prototypes. These sessions helped us check if everything worked well and gather feedback. After each round of testing, we created a report with insights and discussed what changes were needed to improve the design.
Outcome
The project's outcome is a new factoring platform offered by Comarch Finance Cloud as a white-label product, available to BNP Paribas Factoring users or other organizations.
